We continue to one of the most beautiful villages of France, Lourmarin, where Peter Mayle, author of the best seller « A year in Provence » still has a house. It is a very charming village built around its « Castellas » and its old church, with tiny streets and picturesque houses. In front of the village stands one of the most beautiful Renaissance castles of the Luberon built in the 15th and 16th Century.

We end the day at a goat farm for a goat cheese tasting. Not only they have goats, but also pigs, ducks, dogs and cats you will be able to pet. You will leave the place knowing everything about goat cheese !

CEZANNE TOUR and PAINTING LESSONS

Sainte-Victoire-and-Cezanne-TourWhy not taking Painting Lessons in Cézanne’s country?

Aix-en-Provence is famous for being the city where Paul Cézanne was born in 1839. He lived, worked and died there in 1906. After spending some time in Paris working with the impressionists and taking part in several impressionist exhibitions, he came back to his birthplace to work alone, to make his own experiences and searches, pacing up and down the hills and surroundings of Aix-en-Provence like the former Stone Quarry of Bibemus, the surroundings of the Mount Sainte-Victoire he featured in many works, Château Noir.

Follow your guide on a Cezanne’s tour starting in the city itself and to the Master’s last studio, l’Atelier des Lauves. Then you’ll enjoy a scenic drive to the Mount Sainte-Victoire which was doubtless his favorite subject. The mountain is not only interesting because Cé zanne painted it, but also, because it is a very spectacular, majestuous and unique limestone formation.

The afternoon will be spent taking painting lessons with a local artist fond of Cézanne, who choose to live in Aix because of Cézanne… Can you imagine painting yourself in Cézanne’s country with the expert advice of a local painter? This will be a very unique experience also giving you the opportunity to spend a few hours at a local’s house, a very Provencal and peaceful place!

If you are not adventurous enough to paint yourself you can have a private studio visit with the painter ending with a glass of local wine.

For sure, you’ll feel like a local artist after this day dedicated to Cézanne and a glass of good wine!

HIKING AT THE FOOT OF SAINTE-VICTOIRE IN CEZANNE'S SITES

Cezanne-tourDo it like a local and spend some time hiking at the foot of Sainte-Victoire discovering Cézanne’s landscape.

On this private tour focusing on Cézanne, you’ll discover the birthplace of the painter, the city of Aix-en-Provence where he was born in 1839. You’ll learn about the master’s life, where he studied, where he lived, where he worked… in this outstanding town having an architectural and historical walk, going from a lovely square to another, from tiny streets to the majestic Cours Mirabeau… Before or after the city tour of Aix-en-Provence (depending on the season), you’ll go walking/hiking at the foot of the Mount Sainte-Victoire to discover breathtaking views on this magnificent limestone rock formation.

Even if you are not an artist, you’ll feel inspired by this environment and at least, if you have forgotten your paintbrushes, you’ll take pictures.
